At the request of Clementine Risley (Brownie leader), Roger Gittins (in photo) and I (Dave Thompson) attended a meeting of 1st Toft Brownies and explained how the Brownies could make pop bottle rockets. In the following week the Brownies then made their pop bottle rockets and brought them along to the next Brownie meeting where we went outside and fired off the rockets to see whose could go furthest.
Eva was the winner, her rocket went 103 metres. Reine and Flo took 2nd and 3rd place. Eva then had the honour of creating a face on a raw egg and giving it a name. The raw egg was then launched in one of our rockets and after travelling around 100 metres landed safely – unbroken. The Brownies seemed to enjoy both the manufacture of their rockets and the launch event.
